The GRHP has been up and running for almost six months! We are still accepting applications for the program, so if you know of any CalWORKs participants who might benefit from additional transportation assistance, please refer them to the GRHP.
When can people use the GRHP?
The GRHP is available for urgent and transitional transportation
needs. All trips must be work-related -- but remember that may
include trips to work, school, job training, interviews, the career
closet, and other related activities that help someone gain or
retain employment. People can make stops at their child's daycare
or school along the way.
How has it helped our first participants?
Some participants have used all of their 48 rides and their feedback
about the program has been very positive. Users have taken advantage
of the service for a variety of work-related purposes, including
job training, interviews, school, and dropping the kids at daycare
along the way. Here are a few quotes from our users:
· "The GRHP has helped me keep my job by getting me home from my 1:20 am shift when the buses no longer run."
· "Using the GRHP gave me a chance to save enough money to buy a car for my family."
· "The program really helped me be on time for school and appointments."
· "Completing my transportation plan helped me learn how to identify the bus I need to take to daycare and work"
· "The Transportation Resource Guide helped me find out what transportation choices are available, like the GRHP, the Family Loan program and carpooling."
