VTA Studies the Downtown/East Valley Area for Transit Improvements...your chance to suggest improvements!

VTA is studying the area between McKee Road/East Julian St to Capitol Expressway/Yerba Buena Road and Market St/Monterey Highway to the eastern foothills for major transit improvements that will someday be constructed in the area. Eleven potential transit improvements are being considered, including light rail, bus rapid transit, HOV lanes and other alternatives.

Several service organizations are located within this area: including the Senter Road Employment Connection, San Jose Conservation Corps, Resources for Families and Communities, Sacred Heart Community Service, Overfelt Adult Center, MACSA and others.

If you have suggestions for transit service improvements to any of these locations -- for example extended hours of service or other ideas -- now is the time to make your voice heard! Please take the time to send your ideas to VTA or attend one of the public meetings described below to learn more. VTA will make a recommendation for improvements by the end of June.

A series of public meetings are underway. The meetings begin with an exhibit display at 6:30pm and a presentation and discussion at 7pm. The two remaining meetings are:

Evergreen Meeting
May 17
Chaboya Middle School
3670 Cortona Dr.

Central San Jose Meeting
May 18
George Shirakawa Senior Community Center
2072 Lucretia Ave
