Hello everyone: I am happy to report that I am back at work after some time off with my new baby girl, Claire. She was born August 7 -- healthy and lots of fun. I will be getting Transportation Matters back on track -- providing you with updates about transportation in our county.

Guaranteed Ride Home Program in its Second Year

As of November 1, the Guaranteed Ride Home Program (GRHP) has been operation for one year! Thank you for all of your interest and participation. The program was initiated as part of Santa Clara County's Welfare to Work transportation program. And the good new to pass along to you is that we have been funded by the Federal Transit Administration to continue the program for a second year!

The GRHP is available for urgent and transitional transportation needs. All trips must be work-related -- but remember that may include trips to work, school, job training, interviews, the career closet, and other related activities that help someone gain or retain employment. People can make stops at their child's daycare or school along the way.

So if you know of a CalWorks participant who may benefit by this free transportation assistance, please inform them of the Guaranteed Ride Home Program. Contact the Job Access Program at OUTREACH at 408/436-2865.

For more information about transportation resources available in Santa Clara County, call the Job Access Program or check the online version of the Transportation Resource Guide, found at http://www.outreach1.org/jbxs/index.htm
