INFORMATION ON PARATRANSIT
The paratransit area of the OUTREACH web site is intended to assist paratransit users, caregivers, nurses, social workers, etc. in using, accessing and understanding paratransit service. If you come across words or terminology that you are not familiar with, please reference the Paratransit Glossary.
ABOUT THE PARATRANSIT PROGRAM
OUTREACH is a private non-profit agency, operating as Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Paratransit Broker for the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) to provide public paratransit service.
OUTREACH paratransit is based on a reservation system with clients making reservations for trips 1 day to 3 days in advance. Service is provided with sedans or accessible vans. OUTREACH contracts transportation service out to multiple service pro divers.
OUTREACH provides paratransit using a SMART Paratransit System. The three key components of our Smart Paratransit System are:
- digital geographic database
- automated routing and scheduling software
- a global positioning system (GPS), automatic vehicle location (AVL), and communication system.
