Give Kids a LIFT!
Do you need help getting your children to their after-school program or daycare site? Give Kids a LIFT may be the answer.
OUTREACH is pleased to partner with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), the County of Santa Clara Social Services Agency (SSA), and the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) in a demonstration program providing after-school transportation to CalWORKs and low-income children.
The program will:
1. Provide a new retention service
to working parents or those in school or training whose children
need after-school transportation. It will offer knowledge of current
transportation resources available to them for their school age
children.
2. Provide FREE after-school transportation for enrolled children
from school to day-care sites, after-school programs, neighborhood
and community programs, and similar destinations selected by the
family. Each site will have activities for the child and adult
supervision.
3. Enroll eligible children between 5 to 13 years old from CalWORKs
and low-income (150% of the Federal Poverty Guideline) families.
4. Provide each child with rides throughout their school year
so that this service is reliable and has continuity for their
lives.
5. Provide rides Mondays through Fridays and according to flexible
schedules as needed (in addition to riding all five days in the
week, children may ride only two, three, or four days). All rides
will be pre-scheduled. Rides should be to locations within 5 miles
of school.
6. Have attendants on board all vehicles for the safety and security
of the child riders.
